BSD has expertise and special facilities in genomics, computational biology, microbiology, microbial ecology, biophysics and structural biology, and plant sciences. Research experiments include laboratory and field experimental data acquisition and management using the Nautilus laboratory information management system (LIMS).

The Bioinformatics group develops and applies computational methods to explore biological processes at all levels of life systems organization from atomic to ecological. Management of experimental data, and its automation, is becoming increasingly important as the scale of experiments grows and diversifies. This position is responsible for support and operation of the Nautilus LIMS and its development as needed in conjunction with existing and new projects.

Develop and maintain documentation describing the design of the LIMS including the overall architecture, all interfaces and code

Develop and maintain user documentation and training in best practices

As laboratory and sample processing procedures change, or new ones are developed, design and modify the LIMS system as needed

Collaborate with internal and external researchers to analyze and interpret LIMS data
