The Commercial Buildings Integration (CBI) program within DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’s Building Technologies Office (BTO) accelerates the voluntary uptake efficient building technologies that are market-viable but underutilized and develops solutions to overcome non-technical barriers to energy efficiency. We accomplish this by engaging in applied research, demonstration and integration of newly commercialized or underutilized advanced technologies, developing tools and solutions to remove barriers to investment and drive uptake of efficiency measures, and utilizing market partnerships to drive technologies and solutions into the commercial buildings marketplace. The successful candidate will serve as a Commercial Building Energy Efficiency Analysis Tools Participant and will be responsible for helping develop and deploy DOE’s tools designed to help the commercial buildings market use building energy performance data to make both operational improvements and capital investment decisions.
Responsibilities:
• Become an expert in the tools and systems developed and supported by DOE, including the Standard Energy Efficiency Data Platform (SEED), The Building Performance Database (BPD), the Building Energy Data Exchange Specification (BEDES) and BuildingSync, Open Studio, and the Building Energy Asset Score, all of which are described here: http://energy.gov/eere/buildings/analysis-tools. Use this expertise to demonstrate these tools and inform potential users about how the tools can offer value to their business. Provide in-depth demonstrations of tools to a range of audiences.
• Support Strategic planning and project management of these building energy performance analysis tools to achieve program goals.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key commercial building energy efficiency program stakeholders at utilities, energy efficiency product and service providers, trade groups, regional energy efficiency organizations, federal, state, and local agencies, and others as required to increase the use of DOE tools, understand user needs, and channel user feedback into tool development plans, technical specifications, and future program direction.
• Perform stakeholder outreach activities including making public presentations to a variety of audiences and prepare a variety of briefing materials for BTO and EERE senior management upon request
• Work with CBI team members to ensure that Analysis tools are designed, built, and deployed in a way that meets market needs and furthers the program's mission.
• Assist with budgeting for program area and contribute to the Commercial Buildings Integration program’s annual operating plan as requested.

Participant Benefits
Selected candidates will receive a stipend as support for their living and other expenses during this appointment. Stipend rates are determined by DOE officials, and are based on the candidate’s academic and professional background. Candidates will also be eligible to receive a health insurance allowance and reimbursement for travel expenses. Appointments are for one year. Appointments may be extended in increments of up to one year, contingent upon project needs and funding availability.
Nature of the Appointment
Participants will not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, the DOE, or any other office or agency. Instead, the participant will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment.

Desired Experience:
- Experience developing software in a production environment or experience providing training, organizational adoption or support of software products
- Experience with energy efficiency in commercial buildings, such as energy efficiency program management or building systems design or management
- Experience with one-on-one and large group stakeholder engagement
- Experience with promotional campaigns, or sales and marketing
- Experience managing and coordinating a large project team from a range of disciplines
- Degree: Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, or Doctoral Degree.
