The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology coordinates the U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) research programs and is charged with advancing rigorous analysis and the deployment of cross-cutting technologies to improve our Nation's transportation system. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics is the Principal Federal Statistical Agency that provides objective, comprehensive, and relevant information on the extent and use of the Nation’s transportation system, how well the system performs, and the effects of the system on society and the environment.
Are you ready to learn how to build consensus around voluntary data standards and develop datasets that will provide our Nation with the accurate, reliable information we need to measure the accessibility and connectivity of the active transportation network (including walking, biking and rolling) to our communities? Do you want to help DOT, planning agencies, and researchers do a far better job of demonstrating the importance and role of active transportation in American society? Do you want to help identify and address gaps in universal accessibility and access to opportunity? Take an appointment with our team and learn how to analyze the impact of the transportation system on connecting people in our communities. This research project and developmental opportunity is currently available at the U.S. Department of Transportation. The appointment will be served within the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics in Washington, DC as an Active Transportation Data Fellow.
