The U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine (USARIEM) is offering an engineering fellowship for currently pursuing or bachelor's degree-received candidates.
What will I be doing, and why should I apply?
Under the guidance of a mentor, you will partake in research assignments that will provide hands-on experience, research development, and applications of next-generation fiber- and fabric-based computational fibers that enable physiological monitoring, environmental sensing, and threat detection. During this appointment, you will have the opportunity to apply your engineering education and gain a broad range of engineering and life science knowledge in areas related to the agency's mission of protecting the health and performance of soldiers. Areas of interest to learn and gain experience include production, programming, testing and evaluation, demonstration, laboratory and field research, and deployment of sensory and computational fibers and fabrics.
Where will I be located?
These activities will be primarily on-site at USARIEM (Natick, MA) and the International Fabric Machines (Boston, MA).
What is the anticipated start date?
The USARIEM is ready to make appointments effective May 22, 2023. Exact start dates will be determined at the time of selection and in coordination with the selected candidate. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis, and internships will be filled as qualified candidates are identified.
