The U.S. Army Garrison - Italy is offering Bachelor's degree level internships at Vicenza/Livorno, Italy.

What will I be doing?

As an ORISE participant, you will join a community of scientists and researchers in an effort to measure and report command information effectiveness on web and social media platforms as a key component to public communication. You will assess metrics measured from data gathered in social media insights and website analytics to improve PA content and messaging; provide weekly reports; coordinate/consolidate feedback from community members using surveys and other anecdotal collection methods, all to combine with empirical evidence gathered from web/social media analytics. You will also study data associated with content, so the command can gauge the effectiveness of public messages, and in turn, create stronger more effective content. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other team members to create multimedia content for a variety of online and social media platforms, as well as provide support to the PAO with technical aspects of photo and video production/editing and web/social media posting.

Where will I be located? Vicenza/Livorno, Italy

What is the anticipated start date?

Exact start dates will be determined at the time of selection and in coordination with the selected candidate. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis and internships or fellowships will be filled as qualified candidates are identified.

What is the appointment length?

This appointment is a twelve month research appointment, with the possibility to be renewed for additional research periods. Appointments may be extended depending on funding availability, project assignment, program rules, and availability of the participant.

What are the benefits?

You will receive a stipend to be determined by USAG-Italy. Stipends are typically based on a participant’s academic standing, discipline, experience, and research facility location. Other benefits may include the following:

About USAG-Italy

U.S. Army Garrison Italy, Public Affairs Office. Responsible for the communication to a variety of audiences through Command Information (websites, social media), Community Relations, (outreach to off-post civic and political leadership) and Media Relations (civilian news/press agencies. The PAO conducts analytical evaluation of communication tools to increase effectiveness of command messaging, to improve communication products to reach intended audiences.

About ORISE

This program, administered by Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and DoD. Participants do not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DoD or any other office or agency. Instead, you will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment.  Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. Qualifications

The qualified candidate will be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree, or will have earned a Bachelor's degree in the last 5 years.

Highly competitive applicants will have education and/or experience in one or more of the following:

• Experience in website and social media development
• Experience in evaluation and research of communication tools such as social media analytics and insights
• Knowledge of surveys to compile anecdotal information to compliment empirical evidence
• Experience in applying a variety of communication methods and techniques to market and promote activities.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to work well in a fast paced team environment.  
• Knowledge and skills in collecting, compiling, analyzing, and reporting program outcomes.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with higher headquarters and other agencies in the community.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, establish priorities and work in an organized manner; ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Experience in working with community coalitions and strategic multi-disciplinary committees.
