The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency is offering a post-masters fellowship at NGA, a world leader in timely, relevant, accurate and actionable GEOINT.
What will I be doing?
Our ideal candidate is an Information Technology Architect who would like to gain experience in ensuring that the underlying IT architecture across NGA and the Intelligence Community delivers the capabilities that address current and future business needs. Under the guidance of a mentor, you will have opportunities to articulate vision and strategy, suggest approaches for technical direction, articulate tradeoffs, and build productive and successful relationships at all levels of the organization.

Where will I be located?
You will conduct research remotely under the direction of a mentor who will be based in Springfield, VA, or St. Louis, MO, until you acquire a security clearance. Once cleared, you will be based onsite at either campus.
What is the anticipated start date?
NGA is ready to make appointments immediately. Exact start dates will be determined at the time of selection and in coordination with the selected candidate. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis and fellowships will be filled as qualified candidates are identified.
What is the appointment length?
Appointments are initially for one year with the option to extend the appointment for up to four additional years, contingent upon project needs and funding availability.

It is expected that after completing the necessary application for clearance a fitness determination will allow participation to begin with unclassified material, while awaiting a clearance.

About ORISE
This program, administered by Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and DoD. Participants do not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DoD or any other office or agency. Instead, you will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. Health insurance can be obtained through ORISE. The qualified candidate will have a master’s degree or be within nine months of completion of that degree. A background in Information Technology and/or information Technology applied to Research and Development is preferred.
Highly competitive applicants will have education and/or experience in one or more of the following:
Developing IT strategic system architecture plans, within the policy constraints of a Government Agency
Deployment, operations, and maintenance of multiple operating systems, such as Windows Desktop/Server, Linux
Proficiency in scripting languages, such as Python, PowerShell, and/or Bash
Understanding and/or have experience in Data Center IT Systems’ operations, such as Storage Systems, High Performance Compute
Designing and/or implementing complex solutions in Windows and Active Directory, such as OS Image deployment, Group Policy, and cyber security
Demonstrated experience of IT processes, tools and operating systems
Demonstrated experience architecting complex Geospatial Intelligence systems
Strong verbal and written communication, presentation skills, and organizational skills
