Description

A research opportunity is available at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), in the Office of Communications (OCOMM), Division of Drug Information.

This project located in the the Division of Drug Information (DDI) works to optimize CDER’s educational and communication outreach efforts by engaging in effective internal and external interactions to provide timely, accurate, and useful information through traditional and social media channels. The project seeks to identify factors that may affect the reach of CDER social media communications, including a retrospective analysis of CDER social media metrics; ensuring public health messages achieve optimal reach of target audience(s) requires the strategic use of all communication tools, including social media.

Under the guidance of a mentor the participant may be involved in: identifying factors to evaluate; providing recommendations regarding study design including duration and endpoints; engaging with social media team on study design and objectives; and analyzing study results.

This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and FDA. The initial appointment is for 12 months, but may be renewed upon recommendation of FDA contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. The appointment is full-time at FDA in the Silver Spring, MD area. Participants do not become employees of FDA or the program administrator, and there are no fringe benefits paid.

Qualifications

Applicants must be currently enrolled or have received a master's or doctoral degree within five years of the desired starting date. Proficiency with Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn is desired.
