Description

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Science, Technology and Policy Program (DOE-STP) is designed to provide opportunities for students, postgraduates, established scientists and faculty to participate in programs, projects, and activities at the Department. Fellows will receive hands-on experience that provides an understanding of the mission, operations, and culture of the DOE. As a result, fellows will gain deep insight into the federal government's role in the creation and implementation of energy technology policies; apply their scientific, policy, and technical knowledge to the development of solutions to issues of importance to the DOE, and continue their education and involvement in areas that support the DOE mission either in a technical or policy-related role.

About the Opportunity

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of International Affairs (IA), Office of Multilateral Climate and Clean Energy Engagement seeks motivated candidates to take on today’s pressing climate challenges through a fellowship with DOE-STP.

This fellowship will support the approximately 17 international clean energy initiatives and campaigns in which the United States participates within the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM), a multilateral organization with 29 member countries working to rapidly increase the deployment of clean energy technologies. These initiatives and campaigns cover technology areas such as hydrogen, biofuels, and civil nuclear; global deployment issues such as solar and battery supply chains; and cross-cutting just transition and gender equity issues. As an ORISE participant, you will gain insight into the federal government’s role within international forums such as the CEM as well as coordination of work within and between federal government agencies and DOE’s system of national laboratories.

A fellowship in IA will give you the opportunity to apply scientific, technical, and policy knowledge to the development and implementation of international climate and clean energy solutions as well as to continue your education and involvement in areas that support the DOE mission. Fellowships are intended to last one year with a potential for extension.
