The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is one of the major operation components of the Department of Health and Human Services. Research Project: NCEZID aims to protect public health caused by a wide range of infectious diseases, focusing on diseases that have been around many years, emerging diseases, and zoonotic diseases. The Waterborne Disease Prevention Branch (WDPB) is an integrated branch with teams of epidemiologists, microbiologists, engineers, and bioinformaticians coordinating to protect and improve health domestically and globally by promoting healthy water. WDPB laboratories, often partnering with state and local public health agencies, develop advanced molecular solutions for sampling, detection, tracking, and assessment methods in a truly One Health approach to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH)-related disease.
Joining DFWED, the selected participant will conduct research in the Clinical Detection and Surveillance Lab Team in the Waterborne Disease Prevention Branch to provide scientific support for laboratory research related to parasitic disease surveillance and outbreak investigations.
