A fellowship opportunity is available in the Laboratory Response Network Chemical Section (LRN-C) Technical Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The fellow will assist with communcation, collaboration, and sharing of information among the Technical Program and network laboratories, other Federal agencies, non-federal partners and other preparedness stakeholders including the use of new technologies such online collaborative tools to ensure close communication and coordination of efforts. The fellow will assist with the public health database of emergency response activity within the network.
Activities may include:
1. Collects, analyzes, and provides long-term tracking of information using various computer technologies such as databases and spreadsheets
2. Writes, edits, and coordinates the dissemination of informational materials for internal and external audiences
3. Edits briefing papers, program updates, reports, and correspondence related to LRN-C activities
4. Utilizes desktop publishing, graphics, and related software programs to convey information
This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and CDC. The initial appointment is for one year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. The appointment is full-time at CDC in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Participants do not become employees of CDC or the program administrator, and there are no fringe benefits paid.
- Bachelor's in public health, health communications, or a related field.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS EXCEL, WORD, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in MS Access and SAS desired.
