CDC Office and Location: A research opportunity is currently available with the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) Team in the Division of Reproductive Health (DRH), within the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is one of the major operation components of the Department of Health and Human Services. CDC works to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S. Whether diseases start at home or abroad, are chronic or acute, curable or preventable, human error or deliberate attack, CDC fights disease and supports communities and citizens to do the same.
Research Project: The fellow will be assigned to assist with the following activities on the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) team: supporting implementation of the new Phase 9 survey and any future questionnaire development and revisions; analyzing PRAMS survey data and PRAMS supplement data (e.g., COVID-19 experiences and vaccine supplements, social determinants of health supplement); conducting quantitative and/or qualitative data analyses; preparing reports, manuscripts and scientific abstracts; presenting findings to internal and external partners using PRAMS data; assisting with reports for CDC and/or PRAMS grantees (sites) relating to PRAMS data; creating standard operating procedures (SOPs); supporting and analyzing data to action success stories from PRAMS grantees; assisting with web updates; assisting with national grantee meeting; identifying and analyzing public health issues and their impact on public health policies or scientific studies or survey; and assisting with special projects and the PRAMS team with other research activities as approved.
The fellow will receive training and mentorship on project management; preparing for national grantee and/or scientific meetings; analyzing data; presenting and reporting on scientific results; preparing reports and manuscripts across a wide range of maternal and child health topics; and helping improve the health of mothers and infants. The fellow will be part of multidisciplinary team situated within CDC's Division of Reproductive Health, Women’s Health and Fertility Branch, on the PRAMS team. The fellow will collaborate primarily with PRAMS program managers, data analysts, statisticians, health scientists, and epidemiologists to support the PRAMS team, operational and programmatic activities, analytic and questionnaire implementation activities.

Anticipated Appointment Start Date: September 11, 2023. Start date is flexible and will depend on a variety of factors.
Appointment Length: The appointment will initially be for one year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC and is contingent on the availability of funds.
Level of Participation: The appointment is full-time.
Participant Stipend: The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. The current stipend for this opportunity is ~$5,026 per month.
Citizenship Requirements: This opportunity is available to U.S. citizens only.
ORISE Information: This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and CDC. Participants do not become employees of CDC, DOE or the program administrator, and there are no employment-related benefits. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. Health insurance can be obtained through ORISE.
The successful applicant(s) will be required to comply with Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) requirements of the hosting facility, including but not limited to, COVID-19 requirements (e.g. facial covering, physical distancing, testing, vaccination). Additionally, the fellow will follow the telework schedule based on guidance and recommendations applicable to all Division staff.

The qualified candidate should have received a master's degree in one of the relevant fields. Degree must have been received within five years of the appointment start date.
