Description

The U.S. Army Environmental Command (USAEC) located in San Antonio, TX, has an immediate post-graduate software development opportunity. If selected, participants, under the guidance of a mentor, will improve, automate, and centralize valuable Command information tools on an existing SharePoint site.

If you are familiar with web based technologies and love solving problems this is an excellent opportunity for you!  You will learn requirements gathering, platform improvement, and divergent thinking techniques to improve USAEC process flows. Candidates will also learn a variety of technologies to include, but not limited to, HTML, CSS, jQuery, JavaScript, Google Drive, WordPress, and SharePoint.

You will work with a collaborative multi-disciplinary team. The mission of this team is to research how USAEC programs progress from start to finish, to collect and analyze data on current and future processes, to develop requirements for SharePoint tools, and to create the necessary tools. Appointment Length

This appointment is a 12 month research appointment, with the possibility to be renewed for additional research periods. Appointments may be extended depending on funding availability, project assignment, program rules, and availability of the participant.

Participant Benefits

Participants will receive a stipend to be determined by USAEC. Stipends are typically based on the participant’s academic standing, discipline, experience, and research facility location.  Other benefits may include the following:

  • Health Insurance Supplement. Participants are eligible to purchase health insurance through ORISE.
  • Relocation Allowance
  • Training and Travel Allowance

Nature of Appointment

The participant will not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DOD, or any other office or agency.  Instead, the participant will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment.

Additional Information

While participants will not enter into an employment relationship with DOD or any other agency, this opportunity will require a suitability investigation/background investigation. Any offer made is considered tentative pending favorable outcome of the investigation.

Qualifications

Best candidates will be motivated, solutions-driven individuals with strong technical, organizational, communication, and research skills. Must be currently pursing or have received a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral Degree.

  • Preferred candidates will have experience with or be willing to learn the various SharePoint offerings, including Designer, Server, Foundation and Nintex workflows.
  • Candidate should have a high level of familiarity with Microsoft products, such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and lnfoPath. In addition, knowledge of Microsoft's programming languages is preferred.
