Description:

Work with the Scientific Visualization Studio (SVS) to:

1) Provide scientific consultations about ongoing SVS visualizations and datasets

2) Learn the process that SVS uses to create high quality scientific data visualizations. This includes: learning how to process science data for importing into 3d animation software; how to use the 3d animation software to develop cinematic visualizations; and, how to render the animations on the SVS render farm.

3) Learn how to develop hyperwall visualizations that can be used both for scientific research as well as public education purposes.

4) Produce several high quality visualizations (e.g., perhaps of El NiƱo) and release them via the SVS web site.  This often involves consulting with science writers, producers, domain scientists, and social media specialists.

5) Leverage existing relationships with scientists at GMAO and other labs such as ocean color/ocean ecology lab to continue collaborating on science projects and help advance research and discovery through high quality visualization tools.

6) Communicate produced visualizations by publishing them to the SVS web site, through Goddard Communications, and/or through conference presentations.
