Lunar Polar Volatiles
All applications must be submitted in Zintellect
Descriptiion
Volatiles at the lunar poles are of great interest both scientifically and as a potential resource for human exploration. However, the source, composition, and abundance of the polar volatiles are still a matter of debate. The goal of this opportunity is to investigate the expected composition of lunar polar volatiles originating from volcanic eruptions in contrast to other sources and to develop hypotheses which could be tested by future lunar missions. This requires understanding not just the possible sources of volatiles but how the composition and abundance of volatiles would evolve as they migrate towards the poles.
