Exoplanet science with ground-based telescopes and orbiting starshades
Exoplanets could be observed directly by combining a ground-based telescope operating at visible wavelengths with an orbiting starshade (occulter). We are at the beginning of this new mission concept and seek applicants with deep understanding of exoplanet science and the methods used to detect and characterize them. Experience with observing techniques, adaptive optics, diffraction calculations, starshade design, astronomical instrument design, and systems engineering for large space missions would be highly desirable.

Eligibility is currently open to:
- U.S. Citizens;

- Applicants for LPR, asylees, or refugees in the U.S. at the time of application with 1) a valid EAD card and 2) I-485 or I-589 forms in pending status
- Degree: Doctoral Degree.
