Experimental Flow Characterization in the Miniature Arc Jet Research Chamber
All applications must be submitted in Zintellect
Description:
NASA operates the miniature Arc jet Research Chamber (mARC II) for studies of flow diagnostics and arc jet technology development. As a small-scale ground test facility, it offers the ability to support the development of new concepts into practical instruments or hardware that may eventually provide utility at one of the large-scale NASA arc jets. The candidate selected for this postdoctoral opportunity would be expected to focus on characterization of the mARC II flow using a wide range of diagnostics that are currently in development at mARC II (heat flux probes, photo and video with spectral filtering, high-speed cameras, spectrometers). In addition, we are open to implementing the selected candidate’s proposals for new flow characterization techniques that could be tested at mARC II and might eventually benefit the large-scale facilities.
