Earth Science: Aerosol, Clouds and Climate
We are interested in how tropospheric aerosols affect clouds and climate. We observe the spatial scales of aerosol/cloud interactions, and how these interactions affect the radiation budget.  Our job is two-fold. We develop algorithms for retrieving properties of aerosols and clouds from remote-sensed data, and then we perform novel analyses to tease out the inter-relationships between these parameters.  While datasets retrieved from satellites are our primary tools, these are complemented with other remote sensed data (aircraft and ground) as well as with in situ and laboratory measurements. Modeling efforts tie the observations together.
