Description
Both Voyager in situ plasma and magnetic field investigations and Voyager remote sensing investigations at thermal to visible wavelengths are being conducted. These investigations include the interaction of the Jovian, Saturnian, Uranian, and Neptunian satellites with their planets magnetosphere; the thermophysical and photometric properties of the satellites of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune; the hot spots and SO2 atmosphere on Io; Io‘s plasma torus; and the atmosphere-ionosphere properties of Titan are being studied. New data for Saturn's rings, icy satellites and Titan will be provided by the Cassini Plasma Spectrometer (CAPS) and Composite Infrared Spectrometer (CIRS) on the Cassini spacecraft. The former provides in situ measurements of the ion and electron plasma environment at Saturn, while the latter provides remote sensing observations at infrared wavelengths.
